Show Outline
In the first segment, Karlo gives us an update on his writing and research. He provides an overview of his latest book Meeting the Protestant Challenge.
In the next segment, we tackle issues surrounding Acts 15 and the canon of Scripture. Karlo points out various facts of the situation to support the hypothesis that Peter led the Apostles to their decision as opposed to James.
In the final segment, I press Karlo on why statues and graven images are allowed in Catholicism in light of the commandments. I find Karlo’s explanation convincing for Jesus, Mary, and the saints.
However, I’m unpersuaded that it’s a good idea to depict God the Father as a man in the sky with a white beard. I’ve found no positive magisterial teaching regarding that, and it seems to cut against the commandments and classical theism. The Second Council of Nicaea in 787 AD upheld the idea of icons and images of Jesus, Mary, and the saints but never God the Father.
